Thanks for a GREAT SEASON!
I wish to thank all of Arenas (Winfield and Rutland), Referees, Team Reps, Woody and all the league's players for what I thought (overall) was a GREAT SEASON! With few exceptions, there was some great hockey that has been played this year!
I know many changes were made (some of which took longer for some players to adapt to than others). Woody, myself and your Team Reps have worked very hard to incorporate changes and improvments that we feel will help the League attract and keep new talent (individual players or teams), whether it be Players or Referees.
With everyone's help and input, we will continue to make decisions (by a democratic majority vote, as has always been the case) that we feel will move the League forward in a positve direction and help to reduce the chances for injury and inappropriate or ungentlemanly behaviour. We all have to work the next day, and all deserve to be treated with dignity and respect (Players and Refs alike).
I've been priviliged to have become a part of what I consider to be the best League in the Okanagan! I'm hopeful that I have proven to everyone my desire to run a fun and safe league. I am dedicated to ensuring that everyone knows it is possible that we can all be competitive, and at the same time, not take ourselves too seriously. I love this game, and hope that we can all play it for years to come. I have enjoyed the faith your Team Reps have placed in me in electing me as President. I take very seriously my commitment to remain impartial, consistent and fair in all league decisions, regardless of the fact that I happen to play in the league as well. I want everyone to remember that we are supposed to be out here for FUN above all other things, and will endeavour to drive that point home now and in the future (regardless of whether I am allowed to remain on as President).
I wish everyone a fantastic summer with your families and hope to see everyone back for another great season in the fall! As always, I'd love to hear any feedback you may have regarding ideas, suggestions, concerns, etc.
