Scheduling Conundrums

Hey Teams!  I wish to apologize for not yet having the schedule up on the site yet for the remainder of the season.  Between my work schedule, my wife's health issues, and the incredibly slow 'molasses-like' performance of this website itself, I have not yet been able to post the schedule for the remainder of the season but hope to get to it by the end of January.  I thank you for your patience.

For the newer players in the League, it was decided last season that in order to lengthen the season somewhat (without it breaking the bank), that 3 additional games (instead of 7...1 against each team) would be added in per team at the end of the Regular Season.  These games are to be against teams of similar calibre (1st through 4th place, and 5th through 8th).  These 'rankings' are to be decided at the end of the 28 game schedule (currently ending on Feb 22nd).  These rankings are then the same for the 'Playoffs' where 1 plays 4, 2 plays 3, 5 plays 8 and 6 plays 7...then winners play and losers play, ensuring every team gets the same number of games for the season for the money that all teams paid.

It would be unfair to change these rankings for playoffs based on the overall standings after these 3 games, even if say the 5th place team overtook the 4th place team, as the 5th place would technically have had an 'easier' 3 games (as they are playing the 6th, 7th and 8th) and the 4th place team's games would technically be tougher (as they are playing 1st, 2nd and 3rd).

Conundrum #1:  Based on the closeness in most of the rankings, it will not be possible to actually schedule your team's exact times until the 28 games per team are completed.  I will likely have to post the potential schedule here on the home page when it is completed (as the site won't let me post regular season games without actual team names).  Suffice to say, though, that should we continue on our regular nights (Sun, Mon & Wed), we will currently be playing up until Sun, Mar. 18th, so be ready to go!

Note: For the accountants in the group, here is the math:  Three additional games per team plus 2 playoff games = 5 games per team X 8 teams = 40 games divided by 2 (2 teams per game) = 20 games that need to be added into the schedule.  4 on Sundays, one each on Mon & Wed takes us to Mar. 18th (only 4 teams would play that night).

This brings us to Conundrum #2 in that it appears we will be playing into March Break.  Short of booking other ice at other rinks that may be available (regardless of night of the week and/or start time), this is unavoidable.  I welcome feedback from Team Reps regarding this (please provide any feedback to your Team Rep, so they can forward it to me).  We did start at the same time this season, though March Break is earlier this year.  What's odd to me is that we actually played on Grey Cup this season, and played on Jan 1st, and we still have this dilemna.  Even if we were to play on Super Bowl (I have no plans to do this, short of an overwhelming feedback from teams to do so), the season still won't end until Mon. Mar. 12th.  I apologize for this dilemna, but think it will be unavoidable and for those of you who have booked holidays, etc. with your families during this time, you may miss the last couple of games.

I am happy to entertain any suggestions, though the only options we really have are 1) continue as is and certain players may miss the end of the season (it would be interesting to get an idea of how many players this may affect), and 2) booking alternate rinks and/or (later?) times (this now affects ALL players...many of whom may not be able to make late/different night games) in order to get the season in prior to March Break (Fri. Mar. 9th).  We could, of course, entertain starting the season in September to avoid this in the future, but that doesn't help us right now.
